NAME: Six
AGE: Unknown; he looks to be around the same age as Quatre (who proclaims he’s 17) if not a little older, so my estimate would be that he’d be somewhere in his early to mid 20s.
CANON: Granblue Fantasy

CANON HISTORY:

Like many games of its genre, Granblue Fantasy starts off by introducing us to its protagonist, an ordinary boy or girl who dreams of being a legendary skyfarer like their father. Unlike our world, theirs consists of floating islands, and what lies below all of that or even allows these islands to be this way are largely unknown. Theirs is a dream to journey from island to island to see everything the world has to offer, as well as help whoever needs it along the way. Par the natural progression of events in RPGs though, it doesn't go exactly as planned, never mind that they didn't really have a means to begin their adventure to start with.

Within the first few moments of the story, the protagonist has a run-in with Katalina and Lyria, two individuals on the run from the Empire. As the primary antagonists of the series, their goal is to capture and harness the powers of the primal beasts for their own use, and to eventually take over all the skydoms. Lyria, in particular, is able to connect with said primals and the Empire had used her in their experiments up until that point. At any rate, by choosing to try and help them, the protagonist ends up losing their life. Out of gratitude, however, Lyria opts to share half of her life force with them, their lives now practically entwined. This leaves the protagonist with little to no choice but to be on the run with them; a fact that they don't quite mind between everything else.

Along the way, the story does become more than just simply being on the run. As they traverse from island to island, they begin to uncover the Empire's secrets and little by little, their party grows as they recruit allies from all walks of life and for all sorts of reasons. Whether it be to help them fight for their cause (undermining the Empire) or just to tag along for the hell of it, the reasons don't stop there.

Recruiting the Eternals (the group that Six belongs to) is like a side quests of sorts. While the Eternals themselves are a ragtag group of the strongest individuals who are more often than not doing whatever they want, their leader, Siete, does have the ambition of wanting to maintain peace throughout the skydoms. Each Eternal has agreed not to fight each other, and they all do respect Siete, or at least his ideal, in one way or another to have agreed to join him in the first place. Six, in particular, is shown being accustomed to being assigned and following missions. While what missions Siete assigns him are never explicitly explained, it's probably safe to assume they fall under his areas of expertise such as espionage and reconnaissance.
So to give him backstory: Six was born as the heir to a lineage of assassins, hence, the assumption for what missions he's primarily sent on. And, his childhood was unconventional exactly in the way you’d expect, except for maybe the part where he committed genocide against his entire clan as a young child. Talented to the point of being prodigious, he’d been the pride of the clan up until he passed the point of being too prodigious, where eventually his clan began to view him as a monster instead, fearful for their own safety. This lead to his disownment orchestrated by his father; the plan was to leave him in the care of an old friend he’d trusted. While this was all arranged to protect Six because there'd been plans to assassinate both him and his father, unsurprisingly, he was unable to take it well and was never told as to why, either, causing his powers to go on a rampage and the events to unfold as they had.

Instead of feeling liberated or whatever else over what he’d done, Six felt suffocated by his own powers and incredibly lonely— and truly the monster his villagers had labelled him as. For an undisclosed amount of time after that, he lived in isolation and ‘darkness,’ afraid to interact with others and afraid to hurt people again. It isn’t until he encounters the very same person his father had wanted to entrust him to either that he begins to open up a little— and at least try to talk to others, deeming the man as something akin to a ‘light.’ It’s not explicitly mentioned what they did or what words he’d imparted to Six to change his perspective and life so drastically, but what did happen was that Six began to think he wasn’t as unrepentant as he thought he was, and that someone like him had a chance at happiness too. Of course, the concept was still vague and he wasn't sure what was required of him for that— but despite being left behind a second time, he finds the motivation to seek him out regardless of not even knowing his name for the complete answer.

Eventually, news of the Karm clan's sole survivor became widespread and Six was recruited by Siete to join the Eternals. In Sierokarte’s words (a seemingly omniscient merchant that appears just about everywhere and knows just about everything), the Eternals are a legendary crew of ten warriors, feared by the bravest of skyfarers and across all the skydoms. To Six, he joins them as means to an end to help locate the particular skyfarer he’s searching for— and it’s why he easily joins the protagonist after this, because they’re reminiscent (and implied to be the child) of the man he’s looking for. It's because he's searching for someone that he'd likely be most compliant to missions of the scouting category.
Ultimately, should Six be recruited, his role in the main story is limited to being that one character the protagonist recruited that helps where he can. In order to catch his interest, the protagonist must undergo awakening the Six-Ruin Fist: a Revenant weapon that is said to be able to turn the tides of war and threaten the world. As anticipated, such a weapon chooses their wielders rather than the other way around, and the fact that the protagonist is able to utilise them serves as a distinct reminder to Six about the skyfarer he's searching for. According to him, his strength was almost unparalleled and fighting him had been exhilarating; not only did the protagonist look like a spitting image of him, but challenging them to a battle after they'd fully awakened the weapon makes him realise that fighting them feels almost exactly the same, too.

While his initial reason for joining the protagonist had been so that they could look for the skyfarer he was searching for together (since they were already adventuring all over), he does stop caring as much, learning himself that happiness is something he takes in his own hands and is something that doesn't just naturally come. Instead of wanting to find said skyfarer for an answer, he eventually simply wishes to express his gratitude.

Six currently has a total of two episodes, discounting the ones leading up to him officially joining the protagonist. The first one involves journeying back to Karm for clues of the skyfarer and where he learns that the man had left him so he'd start 'living' by heading out on the world and making important friends. Up until this point, he'd been with the crew simply because they'd benefit him— but he decides to join and adventure alongside them in earnest when the protagonist formally extends the offer to be companions.

The second episode involves him coming to terms with his powers and what it means to be a 'monster.' It turns out that the Six-Ruin Fist is sentiment and would be happier for Six to wield it, all along trying to whisper temptations in his ear. That he wants more power. That he's able to gain more power. Six doesn't waver for even a moment— but he decides to try and put an end to it himself by running off with it, so that it wouldn't try to tempt the protagonist instead. This throws him into gauntlet-styled battle with all of his fellow Eternals— and through conversations with all of them, he comes to accept that his power is a necessity and not just something he can throw away. It's all in how he chooses to use it. Without it, he wouldn't have been able to protect the protagonist from the Six-Ruin Fist— nor would he be able to protect anyone for that matter in the future.

In his character stories, he comes to act as a training partner and pseudo bodyguard for the protagonist, being almost overprotective because they're important to him as more than just a first friend. They had shown him kindness and that he could be happy, after all, despite his horrific past.

As a final note: the player can determine the gender of the protagonist. If it isn't possible to keep this open (on the off-chance a Gran or Djeeta apps), then I'll default to the protagonist being female (Djeeta)!

CANON PERSONALITY:

What’s important to keep in mind first and foremost is that Six is very much of a product of his own circumstances. He’s haunted by his past and scorns the power that he’s been born with; he’s had a lonely upbringing and has never the chance to experience a proper childhood or adolescence. It’s literally been survival of the fittest for him. It’s a sad reality that’s been with him since his conception, and it’s exemplified in his present by how he’s always ready to fight for his life. Whether it be against the bandits in his story episodes or against his fellow Eternals in some of theirs, there’s no hesitation at all when he picks up his claws to fight, despite the fact that the latter should very well be his comrades. He’s seemingly confident in the way he carries himself and speaks coldly and almost cruelly— saying that he’s ready to cut down whoever crosses him no matter what relation they have or don't have with him, for example.

Suffice to say, these particular traits together make it very easy to pinpoint the rumours about him being a heartless monster as true. But, that being said, it isn’t as if Six actually wants to kill people, and for all the airs and bravo he puts on, he never does unless he absolutely has to. Given the opportunity, he knocks his opponents out as opposed to outright killing them, and he actually does confide in the protagonist that he can remember many of the deaths that have suffered by his hands. Still, if necessary, he does understand that in cases where it's his life or theirs, there's nothing he can do about it. He's single-minded and lost; unless he continues to live, he'll never figure out why he was born or the reason for his existence. So, he preserves himself for that reason— and later, we learn that the skyfarer had left him for the sole purpose that Six would set out on his own volition and find his own way. And, he does— he learns to love and be loved by the members of the Grancypher, and finds happiness in being with and protecting the first friends he's ever had.

The tough exterior Six exudes is quite literally tied to his mask. And, for all the effort he goes through to maintain it, it's actually quite easy to both crack and see through. Naturally, most people don't bother to see past it and fear him— but those who do brave against him often catch him off guard and leave him at a loss at what to do. Given his past, he's more accustomed to others cowering in front of him or outright condemning him— so when he's shown kindness or even is teased, he’s more prone to freezing up and sputtering incoherently than not. This isn't forgetting to mention what happens when he takes off his mask, either, because the moment it is he flat out stops being able to talk and regresses to high-pitched strangled noises, often making his escape soon after. It's best showcased through his interactions with Funf and Sarasa, two other Eternals: he's bossed around by both, the former a seven-year-old that's completely unfazed by his death threats and has him swept up in her pace through her sheer persistency and the latter a girl who just… takes his mask, and holds it above him until he agrees to do what she wants him to. For a supposedly untameable beast, the opposite couldn't be more true. Just stand your ground a little, and Six will probably acquiesce sooner rather than later.

In the end, it shouldn't be too surprising to learn that Six is as soft as softies come once you get past his shoddy facade. He might say he doesn't care about others, but it's also because he doesn't know how to express he does. For all he talks about not caring about whether Siete lives or dies in his fate episodes, he actually does show up to subdue him when he asks, never mind that he usually follows the other's missions to a T. Learning what friendship is and what he wants is a big part of Six’s narrative— and while he's awkward with his feelings at first since they're new and confusing, he will jump to their rescue and any given time, and the climax of his development comes when he shouts to the protagonist's defense (over a harmless, offhand comment no less) and goes as far as to take off his mask himself to say his appreciation for all the things he's been given. He's also one of the few of the Eternals that don't eventually get tempted by more power; he runs off and embraces it, sure, but it's to prevent it from going after the protagonist instead, and it actually gives up on him when it realises how little ambition he has and how much of a normal person he's always wanted to be. Still, he grows to accept the abilities he's been born with— because without them, he wouldn't be able to protect those important to him.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Erunes are hybrid humans and animals, and are naturally more lithe as a result. Beyond his honed senses being part wolf, Six is a melee-oriented fighter that excels in both speed and stealth. When compared to his fellow Eternals (or at least, those of equal strength), he might seem like less of a heavy hitter, as his fights with many of them involve them commenting on his tendency to whittle them down into a test of endurance. But again, they’re a group of some of the strongest people in their world— and it’s shown that he is stronger than the average person by being able to single handedly take down whole groups.

While his abilities are never touched upon explicitly and explained, we are able to get a general idea of them by their animations and how their mechanics work. Many of his skills involve him ramping up in power as a fight draws on as well as bolstering his ability to hit more than once in a given turn, and how I’ll interpret that into writing is exactly that. The longer a fight goes on for, the stronger he gets, and whereas the average person can only get in one hit, he’ll likely be able to get in two or three. As well, he’s shown to be able to move fast enough to make it seem like he’s creating mirror images of himself, and is more of a dodger than a blocker as he gets weaker when on the off-chance he does get hit.

All that aside, his upbringing as an assassin has made him well-versed with things like setting up and disarming traps and plants in general, which he’s able to create poisons and medicines from.

CHARACTER: AU SECTION
AU NAME: Stephen Karel
AU AGE: 21
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: Just his lack of fluffy ears, which will be replaced with human ones! Everything else about him will remain the same.

AU HISTORY:

♢ born to a successful mother and father who were away more often than not due to work. was raised by a nanny for the most part, and has lived in recollé all his life.

♢ while heading back from a business trip, his parent’s flight went missing. was sent to recollé’s orphanage not much later; family in general wasn’t a big presence in his life so there weren’t any aunts and uncles to hand him off to.

♢ showed signs of having a high iq. as a quiet and intelligent child, he was pretty attractive to prospective parents so was adopted fairly quickly by a couple who were deemed infertile.

♢ although he was appreciative of his new parents (they provided for him and cared for him just like they would an actual son), he kept his distance and they, theirs. has always wanted to connect with them better but doesn’t know how, so he tries to fulfill all their expectations and beyond, as well as help wherever he’s needed. on his end, he doesn't want to be a burden. on their end, they don't want to push him to the point of discomfort. he constantly worries them with his lack of socialization, but he does have a solid group of friends that are able to see past his troubled exterior. thanks to his intimidating appearance, he hasn’t gotten into many fights despite the way he can rub off on people fairly easily. childhood friends with stella (metera from granblue); used to spoiling her like a little sister, and is probably where most of his inability to say no has derived from.

♢ his adoptive parents own a cat café that he’s been taking care of more often as of late. they’ve taken to vacationing more now that they and six are older, and have tried taking up more hobbies. as a result, they don’t have that much of a presence in his life at the moment.

♢ currently attending university for engineering and suffering trying to work hard to pay back his parents for everything they’ve given him. has since moved out to rent his own apartment that’s closer to to the university.

AU PERSONALITY:

Rather than having social anxiety because Six had never had the chance to interact with others for the better part of his life (not forgetting to mention he'd been met with outright hostility by his peers and adults alike), Six in Recolleé is simply awkward because he's never felt like he's fit in. He knows his family isn't one he has blood relations with, and he's always worried as to whether they regret choosing him over the other options because of the emotional distance they have. He thinks he's boring so he tries to compensate to the point of overcompensating with his over-the-top speech and the way he dresses. He thinks acting as a lone wolf is cool, but more often than not, is thwarted when others don't take him seriously or call him out on it (see: his childhood friends.) It’s why he nicknames himself as Six; he thinks his name is lame and well, 666… Is the devil’s number. And therefore cool. As far as his temperament goes, it'll remain the same— if someone hurts him or a friend though, they can expect a repayment that's at least double.

He'll be less reluctant to open his heart and trust others, but he'll still be fiercely loyal to those he's connected with if only because he finds it rare for him to, since he's never truly experienced being shunned by a whole society. His overall good intentions and well-meaning will remain the same; instead of trying to solve things on his own however, he'll be more self-sacrificial and will try to conclude things in whatever way provides the least hassle even if it's at his own expense. He continues speaking his thoughts where they're applicable, but he has a low tolerance for when feelings start to be involved. He's just as easily flustered as ever, but instead of wearing a mask he prefers to keep a hood up. The strangled noises only come into play when physical intimacy and affection is involved— because in this life, he's never quite experienced those either.

Saying 'no’ is a thing this iteration of Six has trouble with too— so being overworked has pretty much become a natural state of being for him. He doesn't have much self-confidence at all, so he tends to to quantify what he's able to do for others as his worth. It isn't too far from his canon personality either if at all, because he's always been uncertain whether or not he deserved happiness.

SAMPLE

Rainy days had always been nostalgic somehow. How, he wasn't too sure— but he'd considered himself to have a good memory, and as far as he'd been concerned none of the major events in his life had ever been clichéd enough to convene with rainy weather.

Regardless, he finds himself zoning out despite everything while blankly rubbing at plates. He'd gotten proper rest for one, had already eaten breakfast for two— life had been surprisingly decent for three, but there was a strange, distinct, unsettling feeling of droplets on his back while being indoors. Focusing on the task at hand didn't help, so maybe finding his zen would?!

He only manages to snap out of his thoughts when he feels a warm body brush against the side of his calf. Almost dropping the plate in his hand in surprise, he jolts before he settles— sending a scowl downwards, brows positioned in a low-angled v.

“…Do you think looking so miserable will earn you pity?”

Clicking his tongue, he hisses a low 'shoo,’ tapping at its side gently with his foot to urge it away.

“Don’t forget that I only picked you up so you could recover quickly. Acting so shameless, don't you have any pride for yourself?”

Naturally, other than a few mewls, the cat continues to run itself against his leg without any acknowledgement to the word he says. Defeated, he bends by his knees to lightly tap its head with his fist, voice dropping into a soft whisper.

“It's better to be able to choose your own home, isn't it? Choosing me is no good at a—”

It's only when a particular floorboard creaks that his shoulders tense and curl into themselves, body instinctively springing him up into a straight pole.

In a fit of embarrassment, he throws the wash cloth jn the general direction of the unwanted guest’s. Crossing his arms with a scowl on his face, there's … a waver in his voice, despite his efforts to sound genuinely angry.

“W, what are you doing just standing there?! Get working if you don't want to be fired!”

Smooth.
